Former Finance Minister and Karaga MP, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has responded to President John Mahama’s address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday.
In a Facebook post, Dr Adam described the speech as “commendable,” noting the President’s strong grasp of key global issues.
“President Mahama’s address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly was truly commendable, particularly his insights on pressing global concerns such as immigration, financing for development, the Middle East conflict, and climate change,” he wrote.
He applauded the President’s performance on the world stage:
“His eloquent delivery and thought-provoking perspectives showcased his leadership capabilities on the international stage.”
However, Dr Adam contrasted the President’s international appeal with challenges back home.
“It’s important how such a well-articulated vision and approach to international development translate to national development in Ghana—particularly as the reset economy is not resetting, galamsey is out of control, and free speech is being stifled.”
Ending on a hopeful note, he urged that the President’s global outlook should guide his domestic agenda:
“Let’s hope his leadership principles and global perspectives inform his decision-making for the benefit of Ghana’s development. Best wishes to you, Mr President.”
