US envoy Waltz invites Nicki Minaj to discuss ‘protection of persecuted Christians in Nigeria’

The United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, has extended an invitation to rapper Nicki Minaj for a discussion on protecting persecuted Christians around the world.

The invitation follows Minaj’s recent social media post condemning the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

Her comments came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern (CPC)” over reports of Christian genocide by Islamist groups. Trump also directed the U.S. Department of Defense to prepare for potential action against extremist networks operating in Nigeria.

In her post on X (formerly Twitter), the 12-time Grammy-nominated artist expressed gratitude for the religious freedom enjoyed in the United States and decried the violence faced by Christians in Nigeria.

Responding to her statement, Ambassador Waltz commended Minaj for using her platform to highlight the issue and invited her for a deeper conversation on the U.S. government’s efforts to safeguard religious freedom globally.

“I would love to speak with you in more depth about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms around the world,” Waltz wrote. “We can’t allow this to continue. Every sister and brother in Christ must stand together and say, ‘Enough!’” he added.
