Leslie Nkansah Osei Bonsu, nominee for the Asante Mampong Paramount Stool, on Monday, January 19, 2026, swore the oath of allegiance to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.

Following the oath-taking ceremony, he was formally gazetted as the Asante Mamponghene and assumed the stool name Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, officially becoming the Paramount Chief of Asante Mampong.

During the ceremony, chiefs from various divisions of the Asante Kingdom urged the new Mamponghene to prioritise peace, unity, and cooperation as essential foundations for the development of the traditional area.

They also cautioned him to maintain a firm stance against illegal mining activities within his jurisdiction, a position strongly upheld by his predecessor, the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.

In his remarks, Daasebre Osei Bonsu III pledged to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor and work diligently to promote development, stability, and harmony in Asante Mampong.

He becomes the 17th occupant of the Asante Mampong Silver Stool, a position traditionally regarded as second-in-command within the Asante Kingdom in the absence of the Asantehene.

After the ceremony, Adom News reporter Kwadwo Obeng Mireku interacted with queen mothers from the Mampong Traditional Council, who expressed confidence in the leadership of the new chief.

“We want peace, unity, and development from him as he ascends the throne. We believe in him and are ready to support him,” one of the queen mothers said.

The kingmakers of Asante Mampong, together with the Mampong Queen Mother, formally presented Leslie Nkansah Osei Bonsu to the Asantehene as the nominated candidate for the Mampong stool on December 18, 2025.
