A total of 9,162 four-week-old broiler chicks have been distributed to 195 beneficiaries in the Asokore-Mampong Municipality under the Nkoko Nkete-nkete initiative.
Each beneficiary received 50 chicks as part of the programme, which forms part of broader efforts by the NDC government to boost poultry production and improve livelihoods within the municipality.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Ben Abdullah Alhassan, expressed gratitude for the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama and for the mandate entrusted to him by the people of Ghana.
He explained that the initiative was designed to benefit all Ghanaians regardless of political affiliation, noting that beneficiaries were selected from diverse communities across the municipality.
Mr Alhassan urged recipients to take proper care of the chicks and to adopt innovative and sustainable poultry farming practices to ensure long-term productivity beyond the initial support.
He also paid special tribute to the farmers who reared the day-old chicks to the four-week stage prior to distribution, describing their professionalism and dedication as key to the success of the exercise.
The MCE further commended the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Asokore-Mampong Municipal Agriculture Office, and all officers and partners whose tireless efforts contributed to the successful implementation of the project.
The Nkoko Nkete-nkete initiative, he noted, represents another step toward strengthening livelihoods, boosting food security, and empowering farmers across the Asokore-Mampong Municipality.
Some beneficiaries who spoke to the media expressed their appreciation for the support, saying they were hopeful the intervention would significantly improve household poultry farming in the area.
