Champions League: Kane & teenager Karl on target as Bayern rout Brugge

Harry Kane scored his 20th goal of the season in just his 12th appearance as Bayern Munich cruised past Club Brugge to maintain their perfect start in the Champions League.

The England captain netted one of the simplest goals of his career in the 14th minute, arriving unmarked to tap in Konrad Laimer’s low cross across the face of goal.

Remarkably, neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo reached 20 goals in a season as quickly as Kane has this term.

His strike came after a stunning opener from teenage prodigy Lennart Karl, who, at just 17 years and 242 days, became Bayern’s youngest-ever scorer in the Champions League — surpassing Jamal Musiala’s record by 121 days.

Making his first start, Karl produced a moment of brilliance, dancing past two defenders before rifling a left-footed shot into the top corner.

Luis Díaz added a third in the 34th minute, smashing the ball in off the underside of the bar for his seventh goal since joining from Liverpool in the summer. Kane nearly made it four before half-time, striking the post from a tight angle.

The 32-year-old had further chances after the break but was denied twice — first by Brugge goalkeeper Nordin Jackers in a one-on-one, and then by a superb last-ditch block from Jorne Spileers.

Kane was eventually replaced by Nicolas Jackson with 20 minutes to go, and the Senegalese striker quickly made his mark by tapping in Bayern’s fourth after Díaz saw an effort cleared off the line.

The victory sealed Bayern’s third straight win in the competition, keeping them second behind Paris Saint-Germain in the league phase on goal difference, with both teams on nine points.

Club Brugge remain 20th with three points. Bayern will next face holders PSG in France on 4 November (20:00 GMT), while Brugge host Barcelona the following day (20:00 GMT).
