What initially appeared to be a major setback for the family of highlife legend Daddy Lumba has been resolved after the Accra High Court lifted an injunction restraining his funeral arrangements, clearing the way for the ceremony to proceed tomorrow.

In a ruling delivered earlier today, the court noted that affidavits before it suggested the immediate family may have been sidelined in the planning of the funeral. The judge stressed that the substantive issues raised in the case required proper consideration.

As part of the proceedings, lawyers for both parties were recalled, and the court ordered the applicants to appear by 2:00 p.m. today and pay GH¢2 million into court to cover costs already incurred in the funeral preparations.

However, the applicants failed to meet the deadline, prompting the court to strike out their application. This effectively removed the legal barrier and allowed funeral activities to continue as scheduled.

Counsel for the family head, Thomas Kwadwo Osei, welcomed the decision, describing it as a huge relief and saying the family can now proceed with final preparations.

The earlier injunction had temporarily stalled planned events, sparking concern among relatives and fans who had already gathered in Kumasi in anticipation of the solemn occasion. With the application dismissed, all arrangements for tomorrow’s funeral are set to resume.
