The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the nationwide school placement exercise for 2025 will begin on Wednesday, September 17, following the release of the provisional results of this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, August 27, the Director-General of GES, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, said successful candidates are expected to report to their respective senior high schools between October 18 and October 20.
He explained that the 2025 placement exercise has been designed to minimise errors and ensure greater transparency. To this end, a review window has been introduced to allow candidates to verify their details on the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal, www.csses.gov.gh.
“Candidates will be able to check and confirm details such as gender, school codes, and programme codes on the portal. This process will be supported by an explainer video to guide parents. The review exercise will run from September 1 to September 8,” Professor Davis stated.
He further cautioned parents and candidates against paying money to middlemen in hopes of securing preferred schools, stressing that placement is strictly based on merit and the established selection procedures.
“The placement begins on September 17, and students are expected to report to campus between October 18 and 20. Nobody should pay anyone for placement,” he warned.
