The government has pledged to announce its definitive position on the Bawku Peace Mediation Report within the next 24 hours.

President John Mahama made this commitment during the official presentation ceremony of the report by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who chaired the mediation process.

Speaking after the symbolic handover of the report, President Mahama welcomed the conclusion of the mediation efforts and commended the Asantehene for his leadership.

“I am pleased that this mediation has come to an end and that a report has been presented,” the President said.

He assured that the government would act promptly, stating, “I can assure Otumfuo that government will carefully study the report and, within the next 24 hours, issue a statement outlining its definitive position.”

While promising a swift response, President Mahama stressed that the presentation of the report should mark the beginning of a new phase of sustained peacebuilding rather than the end of the process.

He called for continued engagement among key stakeholders, including the National Peace Council, the House of Chiefs, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, religious leaders, and traditional authorities.

“It is my hope that the National Peace Council, the House of Chiefs, Otumfuo himself, and all religious bodies will take the next step by sustaining dialogue between the Nayiri and the Bawku Naaba, to ensure lasting reconciliation between the two sides,” he added.
