The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two women in connection with the alleged assault of a 12-year-old girl near the La Roman Junior High School, following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother.

According to a police statement, the incident occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The girl’s mother reported the matter after visiting the police station with her daughter, who had visible injuries consistent with an assault. She alleged that her daughter was attacked by three women without provocation.

“The complainant alleged that three women assaulted her daughter,” the police said, adding that a statement was taken and a Police Medical Report Form was issued to the victim for medical examination.

Preliminary investigations indicate that earlier that day, the 12-year-old girl had a disagreement with a seven-year-old boy who is related to the suspects. Police said the situation later escalated when the suspects allegedly went to the victim’s home, took her to their residence, and assaulted her.

On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, police arrested two of the suspects after the complainant led officers to their location. The suspects were identified as Precious Giftan Mesopeh, 22, and Princess Giftan Mesopeh, 25. Both are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

A third suspect, identified as Priscilla Novishie Wornyo, 49, a fashion designer and the mother of the two arrested women, is said to have travelled to the Volta Region. Police say efforts are underway to locate and arrest her to support the investigation.

The two arrested suspects have been formally charged and are expected to appear before court on Monday, January 5, 2025.

In the meantime, the Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against resorting to violence, particularly in disputes involving children. The police urged parents, guardians and community members to seek lawful and peaceful means of resolving conflicts and to report incidents promptly.

“The Command further urges the public to respect the law and protect the rights and welfare of children at all times,” the statement said.

The incident has reignited public debate about child protection and the importance of non-violent conflict resolution within communities.
