Legal practitioner and host of JoyNews’ Newsfile, Samson Lardy Anyenini, has condemned the removal of former Auditor-General Daniel Yaw Domelevo in 2024, describing it as punishment for his strong anti-corruption stance.
Speaking at the Communication and Media Studies Festival 2025 at the University of Education, Winneba, on Thursday, August 14, Mr. Anyenini said Mr. Domelevo was forced out of office because he pursued individuals involved in the looting and mismanagement of public funds, successfully recovering millions of cedis.
He expressed deep concern about the state of governance in Ghana, warning that corruption has now been normalised and will continue unless citizens take a stand.
“Ghana lost 18.41 billion cedis in the past five years,” he revealed, stressing that these losses should be described plainly as theft, not just financial irregularities. According to him, the money was lost through “thievery and misuse.”
Mr. Anyenini lamented the lack of accountability for those implicated in misusing public funds, cautioning that such impunity only signals that the practice will persist.
He therefore called on Ghanaians to raise their voices, demand accountability from leaders, and insist that public resources are managed responsibly in line with the constitution for the benefit of the nation.
