A Senegalese goalkeeper, Cheikh Touré, has reportedly been found dead in Ghana, according to a statement from Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs.

Preliminary investigations by the Ministry suggest that the deceased may have fallen victim to a network of scams and financial extortion, though the exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

The Ministry confirmed that the Senegalese Embassy in Accra has verified the incident and that Touré’s body has been deposited at the Ebenezer Tarfo Morgue in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.

The Embassy has since dispatched two representatives to Kumasi to assist local authorities with the administrative and judicial processes, as well as to coordinate with the family for the repatriation of the body once the necessary authorisations are secured.
