Sports Minister Kofi Adams has commended the Black Stars for responding positively to the guidance of both government officials and the technical team in their resounding 5–0 victory over the Central African Republic in the World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on Wednesday, Mr. Adams praised the players for their discipline and dedication, noting that their performance reflected a renewed sense of commitment and belief.
“Well, I give thanks to God for what He has done for us as a country,” he said. “The boys gave their all. They listened to advice and took our engagements seriously.”
The emphatic win in Morocco leaves Ghana just one point away from securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Black Stars’ four-goal blitz in the second half sealed their dominance and extended their lead at the top of Group I to three points.
According to Mr. Adams, he had earlier urged the players to ignore negative commentary and remain focused on their abilities and potential.
“I told them clearly that they are among the best you can find anywhere,” he revealed. “Once the coach has selected you, you have every reason to believe in yourself. Don’t pay attention to the voices that try to bring you down.”
He further encouraged the players to use criticism as motivation to prove their worth.
“Any commentary you hear out there should inspire you to show that you truly deserve your place in the team,” he emphasized.
Mr. Adams’ remarks come amid heightened public scrutiny of the Black Stars following inconsistent displays in previous matches. However, the team’s emphatic victory over the Central African Republic has reignited national confidence as Ghana moves closer to booking a place at the 2026 World Cup
