CANAL+ and its long-standing partner, Warner Bros. Discovery, have announced a new multi-year, multi-territory agreement, marking a significant expansion of their international collaboration.
The extended deal covers the distribution of HBO Max as well as the renewal of several Warner Bros. Discovery thematic channels across Africa and Europe. It builds on landmark agreements reached in France in 2024, including the renewal of Warner Bros.’ exclusive pay-TV window, which allows CANAL+ to broadcast Warner Bros. films just six months after their theatrical release in France.
The partnership also includes the integration of HBO Max into select CANAL+ offers in France and its rollout in Poland in 2025. In addition, the agreement renews the distribution of 22 thematic channels including TVN24 and Eurosport alongside four free-to-air channels, including TVN.
Strengthened Partnership Across MultiChoice Group Territories
Under the new agreement, CANAL+ will continue distributing 12 Warner Bros. Discovery thematic channels across MultiChoice Group territories, with some channels offered on an exclusive basis.
- CNN International and Cartoon Network will be available exclusively in South Africa and non-exclusively in other territories.
- Cartoon Network Porto will be distributed exclusively in Angola and Mozambique and non-exclusively elsewhere.
- Cartoonito, Cartoonito Porto, Discovery Channel, Discovery Family, Real Time, Investigation Discovery (ID), TLC, HGTV, Travel Channel, TNT Africa, and Food Network will be offered on a non-exclusive basis.
The agreement strengthens CANAL+’s entertainment, children’s programming, news, and documentary offerings across African markets.
Expanded and Consolidated Partnership in Europe
The CANAL+–Warner Bros. Discovery partnership is also being reinforced across Europe through a series of renewals and expansions. These include:
- The renewal of Cartoon Network, Cartoonito, and CNN International in Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
- The renewal of Warner TV in the Czech Republic.
- The renewal of HBO Max, HBO, and Cinemax in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.
- The expansion of HBO Max distribution via CANAL+ into two new markets: Belgium and Austria.
The agreement significantly enhances access for CANAL+ subscribers to Warner Bros. Discovery’s premium content, including acclaimed series and blockbuster films, further extending the studio’s international reach.
