A Form Three student of Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, identified as Abass, has died after falling from the top floor of the school’s administration block on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
The body has since been buried in line with Islamic burial rites.
Sources within the school indicate that Abass had reportedly been struggling with suicidal thoughts for some time, although the school administration was unaware of any such concerns.
Abass, a Business student who served as the acting Boys’ Prefect, is said to have fallen during school hours, prompting students and staff to rush to the scene. He was quickly transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Family members including his mother and uncle—as well as some students revealed that Abass had previously made comments about harming himself, but these remarks were dismissed as jokes and not taken seriously.
